Hurricane Tax Free week begins today

Hurricane supplies Tax Free - June 1 - June 7

Hurricane season begins today so if you have not prepped your home with emergency supplies now is the time.  Florida offers its residents a tax-free week on selected items.  Below is high-level list of what is tax-free this week.

$10 or less:

  • Reusable ice (reusable ice packs)

$20 or less:

  • Portable self-powered light source powered by battery, solar, hand-crank, or gas (includes candles, flashlights and lanterns)

$25 or less:

  • Gas or diesel fuel container (includes LP gas and kerosene containers)

$30 or less:

  • Batteries (AAA-cell, AA-cell, C-cell, D-cell, 6-volt, 9-volt) including rechargeable batteries
  • Coolers and ice chests (food-storage; non-electrical)

$50 or less:

  • Bungee cords
  • Ground anchor systems
  • Two-way or weather band radios (powered by battery, solar, or handcrank)
  • Ratchet straps
  • Tarpaulins (tarps)
  • Tie-down kits
  • Visqueen, plastic sheeting, plastic drop cloths, and other flexible waterproof sheeting

$750 or less:

  • Portable generators (used to provide light, communications or to preserve food in the event of a power outage)
